Need a good interview script? Tips on how to use ChatGPT

Artificial intelligence can assist you with a wide range of tasks, from working with big data to helping you prepare questions and an interview script. Let us now explore how to utilise the text-based AI generator ChatGPT for interview preparation.

These tips were published in an article on the Talent Blog on LinkedIn. Each tip includes a query (prompt) that you can enter into ChatGPT to generate responses which can serve as inspiration for preparing your interview script. However, we advise against adopting the results verbatim; rather, use them as guidance in your preparation.

"Here's a job advertisement for a position our company is offering. Provide me with a list of ten questions I should ask candidates during the interview for this role."

You may be running out of inspiration when it comes to preparing new interview questions. Naturally, many questions will arise organically from the dialogue you have with the candidate. Nevertheless, it is beneficial to have a list of prepared questions that you can use or combine with topics that emerge during the interview.

"Here is the resume and cover letter of a candidate applying for our open position titled XY. Identify inconsistencies, unexplained details, and interesting points in the resume and cover letter that I should discuss with the candidate during the interview."

ChatGPT can help you identify inconsistencies, keywords, deviations or noteworthy aspects in resumes, cover letters and other documents that should be clarified during the interview or that distinguish the candidate in some way. However, be sure to anonymise these texts before entering them into the generator and proceed in a manner that does not violate GDPR regulations or your company’s internal policies.

"Below are questions that we have commonly used in our company during interviews with job applicants. Provide suggestions on how to refine these questions to assess candidates more effectively."

It is not uncommon for recruiters to rely on the same questions out of habit or to follow a predefined script set by the company. Sometimes, it is useful to review and refine these questions to develop new, more effective queries.

"Successful and unsuccessful job applicants frequently cite the following issues and concerns in our company’s surveys: XY. Suggest solutions to address these issues and improve the candidate experience with our company."

If you have access to data on how candidates perceive your recruitment process, ChatGPT can help analyse this information and provide recommendations on how to address these concerns. By implementing these solutions, you can enhance the overall experience for job applicants interacting with your company.
