Are you new to sales? Are you just learning the sales craft and wondering which initial recommendations you should follow? Here are three elementary yet extremely important tips for sales beginners.
Enjoy selling
According to the Salesforce blog, many people feel aversion toward sales and are not proud of what they do. However, the role of the sales professional has changed significantly in recent years. It is no longer about an intrusive used car seller or a door to door vacuum cleaner salesperson. Today, a sales professional is primarily an expert in a given field who can connect client needs with the company offer. A high quality sales professional is now someone sought after by both clients and employers.
Do not focus on yourself and your product, focus on the client instead
Too many sales professionals focus on themselves, on what they say, and on how they appear. However, a sales professional should focus primarily on the client, their feelings, and their expectations. The chosen communication approach should reflect this. Follow the 80 20 rule, meaning you should speak and ask questions only 20 percent of the time and allow the customer to speak for 80 percent of the time.
Focus on positive solutions to client problems
When communicating with potential clients, focus on problem solving. Identify what troubles the customer and try at all costs to resolve the issue. Perceive yourself as a consultant who can help clients overcome difficult situations. This way of thinking will also be reflected in your behavior.
